“The Bid” Short Film for 48 Hour Film Dash Challenge

October 22nd, 2008

The 48 Hour Film Dash is a local competition in which the entrants have 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a five minute short film containing a set of criteria given in the first hour.

Our entry, “The Bid” was shot on a Canon HG10 by the amazing cast and crew of “Team Fandango”.

The last hours were spent manically cutting about 12 minutes of footage into five, so here’s a link to the extended cut made following the event.

Big thanks to all involved, especially Steve & Dan, the two main cast pictured above (shot on Canon 30D with diffused CanonEXII).

Armoury Shoot

These images were taken as part of a promotional/product shoot for Alex Simpson; an amazing traditional armourer based in the UK.

This set was shot in the studio with a single softbox and monolight.

Bijou Hunter Shoot

October 22nd, 2008

Back in August this year I did a promo shoot with Irish performer ‘Bijou Hunter’ (www.bijou-entertainment.com).  We started off on location for her egyptian dance act.  We used three strobes (canon 580EXII & Vivitar 285s) with wireless triggers and shoot through brollies.

Later we moved back to the studio for a relativly easy setup using just a single softbox with 300WS monoblock.

Welcome to the New Blog!

October 22nd, 2008

Thanks for visiting my new blog at www.alexshelley.co.uk.  I’ve been meaning to get it online for a while, but as always its my own projects that get pushed to the backburner.  During the next few weeks I’m hoping to go through some old material and upload some previous behind the scenes footage and photo sets.  In the meantime, please enjoy the new site and feel free to send me any feedback or suggestions.

Cheers,

Alex
