Zombies in the woods are always a pleasure to shoot. Combine that with an excellent makeup team and a model who’s willing to be covered in syrup based blood while exposing himself to some pretty ugly British weather and you’ve got yourself the potential for some amazing imagery.

For this location shoot, I’d decided to travel light and use my wireless-triggered, off camera flash setup with a mixture of basic modifiers (bare bulbs, silver brollies and small diffuser). The second half of the shoot was shot with just the remaining available light.

Another couple of pictures from the past.  These were taken from a project that made up regular joes to look like celebrities from the past.  There were several other but these are my favourites.  We’re planning to bring this project back in the future… Keep your eyes peeled!

These were shot on location with off camera strobes (aka “my strobist kit”) and triggered wirelessly.

These are from a test shoot I did a while back with makeup artists Cher Treagust & Julie Anne Stevens and model James Bedoes.

It was all shot in a strobist kinda way.  My basic kit for this included three off camera flashes (canon & vivitar) with a whole bunch of monifiers (snoots, brollies, flags, etc…).

…I’m still finding fake blood in my kit today!

I recently shot Electro band Crash Repeat in the studio.   We initially started with a clean, white, traditional style before moving onto a more lofi setup using a single diffused strobe held above camera and a whole lot of processing!

Heres a few examples from the shoot including both styles… Just goes to show that a high end studio environment isn’t always called for

I’ve been working on a big project with body painter Neil Hughes over the last few months and one weekend  it side-lined into this shoot with olympic runner Richard Whitehead (www.marathonchamp.com).  Generally any shoot with Neil is guaranteed to get my attention but this one absorbed me completely…

Back in August this year I did a promo shoot with Irish performer ‘Bijou Hunter’ (www.bijou-entertainment.com).  We started off on location for her egyptian dance act.  We used three strobes (canon 580EXII & Vivitar 285s) with wireless triggers and shoot through brollies.

Later we moved back to the studio for a relativly easy setup using just a single softbox with 300WS monoblock.
